How to get help

What InsectWise does

InsectWise identifies insects from a photograph and shows you the visual evidence the identification rests on — body shape, leg count, wing pattern, markings — alongside a confidence score and the full ranked list of other possible matches. Identifications are not saved automatically. When you choose Save to field guide, the app keeps that selected record on your device so you can review it later.

Free use

Your first three identifications are free. No account, no sign-in, no card, and no trial that starts charging you. If a photo is too poor to judge, InsectWise asks for a better shot instead of guessing — and that does not use up one of your free identifications.

Subscriptions and purchases

Apple subscriptions are managed in your iPhone Settings under your Apple Account. To restore a purchase, use Restore purchases in InsectWise's Settings — you do not need to open the purchase screen to get there.

Every price and renewal period is shown in full before you are asked to buy anything, and no plan is pre-selected.

Bites and stings

The bite comparison is not a diagnosis and InsectWise is not a medical tool. It shows what a mark resembles among insects that commonly cause similar marks. A bite mark alone cannot identify a species, and InsectWise will never tell you that you are safe. If you are worried about a bite, a sting, or a reaction, contact a medical professional.

Identification accuracy

Identifications are automated estimates and can be wrong. That is why every result shows the evidence behind it and what its confidence score actually means — so you can check the answer against the insect in front of you rather than take it on trust.

Your photographs

Photos you choose to analyze are sent to our server and OpenAI only after the in-app consent step. InsectWise does not intentionally save submitted original photos to its own image database; service-provider retention may still apply. Photos you save to your field guide stay on your device.
